Transformation of Armenian independent media through restructuring and reorganization
Context:
Founded in 2021 in Yerevan, Armenia, AliqMedia.am emerged post-Second Nagorno-Karabakh War to address the need for an independent media platform.
Faced sustainability challenges early on, including financial struggles, declining audience reach, and inconsistent donor and social media management strategies.
Key activities:
Conducted an audit to leverage strengths and address weaknesses, developed a strategic plan for sustainable growth, and initiated a transformation focusing on organizational structure, finances, and audience engagement.
Restructured management, introduced new roles (marketing and business development managers), and optimized work processes for efficiency and growth.
Reorganized finances by streamlining the budget, cutting expenses, enhancing donor relationships, and initiating non-donor revenue streams, including launching reader revenue efforts.
Results:
Boosted YouTube views and subscribers by 374% and achieved a 194% growth in pageviews over three months, reaching historic audience engagement levels.
Secured $3k in private donations with an additional $25k pending, enhancing financial stability and donor engagement.
Launched successful business development initiatives, including new advertising negotiations and recurring reader revenue streams.
